Shillong: Langsning surged to the top of the Shillong Premier League on September 26. They blanked bottom-dwelling Mylliem 2-0 at the SSA Stadium. The win moves the defending champions to 16 points through seven matches. They now sit two points ahead of Shillong Lajong.
The match stayed scoreless until the 77th minute. Defender Rajat Peter Lyngdoh sparked the opening goal after he bungled a clearance, forcing a corner. Samuel L Kynshi delivered the kick, and Wallambok Dkhar hammered home a header. Mylliem failed to answer despite chances from Remark Kharmalki and Istarbor Marngar.
Mylliem sits in dire straits. They have only one point from seven matches. Their manager reflected on the team's struggles to convert chances, noting, "Istarbor later fired well from close range as Mylliem struggled to turn their openings into goals."
Samuel L Kynshi iced the game in the second minute of stoppage time. He sent a low shot from outside the box that slipped through goalkeeper Rihoklang Khongjoh’s hands. Langsning has now won four of their last five matches and kept three consecutive clean sheets. They face Shillong Lajong on October 1 and Nongkseh on October 10. Sixth-placed Sawmer meets fourth-placed Nongkseh on Monday at 3pm.
