Kohima students display inventions for World Youth Skills Day

Kohima: Students at Thinuovicha Memorial Government Higher Secondary School in Kohima displayed a variety of technical projects on July 14. The exhibition celebrated World Youth Skills Day 2026. Students showed off sunlight sensors, automatic room light controllers, and earthquake detectors. They also built biogas plants, drip irrigation systems, and vegetable choppers.

The display included electrical items, renewable energy models, and homemade cookies. Officials from the State Council of Educational Research and Training, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, the Directorate of School Education, and Lend A Hand India toured the stalls. They talked to the students about the practical work. Vocational trainer Rongsentoshi opened the event before Principal Kelhikha Kenye spoke to the crowd.

Kenye praised the focus on hands-on learning. He told the students to keep pushing their creativity alongside their standard books. "He encouraged students to continue developing innovation and creativity through hands-on learning alongside their academic studies," the school stated. The annual event occurs every July 15 to promote job readiness and entrepreneurship. The school ended the day by reaffirming the need for skill-based education in the classroom.
