Kohima: The government of NNC/GDRN (N-A) shut down reports of a mass defection this week. It rejected a press release claiming 18 of its fighters joined the FGN faction led by Sukhai Awomi. The report appeared in the Nagaland Post on August 27 under the headline, "FGN (Sukhai Awomi) welcomes 19 homecomers."
NNC/GDRN (N-A) officials called the claim "false, misleading and factually incorrect." They confirmed that Lieutenant Colonels Thongliba Sangtam and Eangba Konyak were recently suspended. These men faced discipline for anti-social behavior, reckless conduct, and substance abuse.
The group insists the other 15 names listed in the report do not exist. They labeled these names as bogus entities. Leadership stated they refuse to be swayed by cheap, false propaganda. They remain dedicated to the Naga national cause. The organization asked other factions to denounce efforts to malign the credibility of any group using fabricated claims.
