Kohima: Nagaland Minister P Bashangmongba Chang opened a new Superintendent of Police office in Tuensang on Saturday. The building marks a major step for local law enforcement. It serves as a base for maintaining order. Chang believes the facility proves the state prioritizes public safety and institutional growth.
He addressed the crowd during the ceremony. "This is not merely the inauguration of a government building, but also the strengthening of an important institution entrusted with maintaining peace, security, law and order, and ensuring the safety of the people," the Minister said. The police department has long operated in tough conditions, making this upgrade a necessity.
Chang warned that modern crime is shifting away from physical threats. He noted that cybercrime and online fraud are now serious issues. The Minister pushed officers to embrace new tech and sharpen their skills to meet these demands. He credited Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton for their ongoing support of state infrastructure.
The event included a technical report from Chobenthung Ezung, SDO of the Police Engineering Project. Dr Akash Sinha, SDPO Tuensang, chaired the proceedings. Speakers included DIG R Vikram Ezung and ENPO Vice President Pakhiu Khaim. Pastor Changsang offered a dedicatory prayer, while Mününü Vero provided a special performance. Chang reminded the attendees that the police must work alongside traditional leaders and civil society to keep the peace.
