Canara Bank Grants Scholarships to Kohima Schoolgirls

Kohima: Canara Bank’s New Capital Complex Area branch in Kohima handed out financial aid to underprivileged girls at Government High School, Diki, Dihoma. The bank acted through its Canara Vidya Jyothi Scholarship Scheme, also known as the Canara Bank Dr Ambedkar Vidya Jyothi Scholarship. It supports SC and ST students in grades 5 through 10. The goal is simple: stop dropouts and push for gender equality.

Bank officials held a ceremony on August 27 to honor the top students from each grade level. Branch Manager Shuli Lokho and Assistant Branch Manager Machuk Wurmi Luikham led the event. They handed out the awards to the high-achieving girls to celebrate their academic performance.

Lokho addressed the crowd during the program. He told the students to stay focused on their goals. "Success came to those who remained dedicated, sincere, hardworking and consistent in their chosen fields," he said. The bank intends for the funding to help these students finish their basic education.
