GMS Lower Chandmari Marks Cultural Day in Kohima

Kohima: GMS Lower Chandmari students celebrated cultural day in Kohima on October 1. They rallied behind the theme, Preserve Culture, Embrace Traditions. Children showcased the diverse heritage of the Naga people throughout the event.

Dr. Keneilhoulie Medom, managing director of KOHIMAS Hospital and owner of Experience the Naga Kitchen in Chedema, attended as the special guest. He told students to seek diverse careers while keeping their studies a priority. He said, "Preserve Naga cultural identity through traditional songs, dances and practices."

Kohima Municipal Council councillor K. Asangla joined the call to action. She reminded students to stay connected to the traditions of their forefathers. SMC member Dr. Achila agreed. She urged the attendees to trace their roots and carry their Naga identity with pride.

Infrastructure needs dominated the local feedback. Hoshito, the GB, praised the school's high enrollment figures. He argued the site requires an official upgrade. He specifically requested an approach road and standard footsteps to fix access to the school compound. Head teacher Visa Nisa delivered the welcome address. Yanpo hosted the program, and school management committee chairman John Kath offered the final vote of thanks.
