Kohima: Canara Bank handed out financial aid to top-performing girls at Government High School, Diki, Dihoma. The Kohima New Capital Complex Area Branch ran the event on August 27. It falls under the Canara Vidya Jyothi Scholarship Scheme. The bank targets underprivileged SC/ST students in Classes 5 through 10 to keep them in the classroom.
Branch Manager Shuli Lokho and Assistant Branch Manager Machuk Wurmi Luikham presented the awards. The initiative aims to push academic excellence and gender equality. Lokho addressed the crowd during the ceremony. He told the students to stay focused. "Success comes to those who are dedicated, sincere, hardworking and consistent in whatever field they choose to pursue," Lokho said.
The bank uses these CSR funds to stop school dropouts. This program specifically targets students between 5th and 10th grade. Bank officials confirmed this event shows their ongoing work to support education for disadvantaged youth in the region.
