Kohima: Two thousand students from 50 Kohima schools gathered at the Kohima Village Ground in Ziekezou on October 15. They attended the NextStep Kohima 2026 Educational and Career Fair. The event offered direct access to colleges, universities, coaching institutes, and career mentors. It also provided information on scholarships and skill development.
Albert Seluokuolie Rutsa, the organizing committee convenor, pushed for students to abandon vague advice. He argued that peers and hearsay often lead to poor career paths. Rutsa noted, "important decisions about one's future deserve more than guesswork." He stressed that students must actively explore options instead of relying on opinions.
The fair grew out of a pre-event survey targeting specific student needs. Organizers brought in experts from conventional academics alongside emerging industries like music, technology, and coffee. Rutsa advised attendees to learn about financial aid and necessary skills for their chosen paths.
Dr. Vizolie Suokhrie, Chairman of the Kohima Village Council, officially opened the event. He praised the Kohima Village Students' Union for the initiative. He urged students to pay special attention to the skill development centers represented at the fair. Vizovotuo Kire, Chaplain of Khedi Baptist Fellowship Dzuziezou, opened the proceedings with an invocation.
