Kohima: Thinuovicha Memorial Government Higher Secondary School in Kohima hosted a skill exhibition on July 10. The event marked World Youth Skills Day 2026. Officials from SCERT Nagaland, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, the Directorate of School Education, and Lend A Hand India attended the showcase. They toured the stalls and met with the students.
Vocational trainer Rongsentoshi opened the day with a welcome address. Principal Kelhikha Kenye addressed the crowd. He spoke on the power of vocational training. "The importance of vocational education in equipping students with employable skills, fostering entrepreneurship and promoting lifelong learning," he stated. He pushed the students to keep building their technical talents.
The exhibition floor hummed with activity. Students presented a wide array of inventions. Projects included a Sunlight Sensor Street Light, Automatic Room Light Controller, Earthquake Detector, Biogas Plant, and a Drip Irrigation System. Other displays featured a Buzz Wire Game, a Vegetable Chopper, agricultural nursery setups, renewable energy models, electrical goods, and homemade cookies.
These items turned textbook theories into working machines. The school celebrates this day early, though the global observance falls on July 15. The program ended with students and staff confirming their commitment to hands-on learning. They aim to stay future-ready.
