Itanagar: Residents, public representatives, and officials in Keyi Panyor held a farewell for Superintendent of Police Angad Mehta. They thanked him for his work on community-oriented policing and public welfare. He leaves a district with stronger ties between the force and the people.
Mehta introduced several key changes during his time in office. He oversaw the first sitting of the Special Executive Magistrate's Court under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. He also targeted illegal mining and enforced the Inner Line Permit regime strictly. Mehta fought drug abuse by promoting the MANAS National Narcotics Helpline at 1933.
His work stretched into education and community development. He upgraded the Government Residential School at Lichlith using the Police Civic Action Programme. He started the SP Keyi Panyor Fellowship Programme to get youth involved in local matters. The district administration noted his impact, stating, "his legacy of public service and community-centric policing would continue to inspire both the police force and the people of Keyi Panyor."
The outgoing SP also looked after his own officers. He held regular health check-up camps and started the Annual Sampark Sabha. He even hosted the first interaction programme with ex-servicemen in the district. During flash floods in Possa Village and NEEPCO Colony, he coordinated emergency relief efforts.
Mehta built the Sangam Centre, a library and police outpost, to help the public. He opened the Kitaab Station at the Yazali Police Station and Yazali Ekta Bhawan. Environmental work took center stage through his plantation drives and Clean Campus, Green Campus programs. He finished his term after ensuring elections remained peaceful and police procedures stayed transparent.
