Itanagar: IIT Delhi signed a Letter of Intent on September 18 to establish a Centre of Excellence for the Keyi Panyor Mission Plan 2040. Yachuli MLA Toko Tatung and IIT Delhi Corporate Affairs Dean Prof Jayant Jain signed the deal to bring technical and research support to Arunachal Pradesh's newest district. The partnership focuses on long-term sustainability.
Tatung pushed the district’s goal to become a "Biohappy District" during IIT Delhi's CSR Conclave 2026. This model aims to boost public services and local livelihoods while guarding water sources, forests, and indigenous culture. He also promoted the Comprehensive Action Plan for Education, which puts teachers at the heart of community growth. He asked executives from GAIL, IOCL, DMRC, NTPC, and Konkan Railway for CSR and technical backing.
A three-member delegation including CEO Vijayan MJ and Director Dr Mini Kochumbron toured IIT Delhi. They inspected research hubs for AI, robotics, healthcare, renewable energy, and early-warning systems. The group also scouted projects with the Centre for Rural Development and Technology. They want help with waste management, agroecology, and springshed protection tailored for rugged terrain. This new centre acts as the anchor for all future collaboration.
