Kohima: The District Health Society of Phek set up a Reproductive Child Health camp in Porba village on September 30. Medical teams aimed to bring quality care to locals who struggle to reach regular clinics. Chief Medical Officer Dr Chitale Hiese and District Programme Officer Dr Khriekuolie Liezietsu led the effort alongside staff from the District Hospital and Pfutsero Community Health Centre.
Doctors treated 114 maternal and child patients. This total included 43 paediatric cases and 71 gynaecological visits. Staff checked 11 expectant mothers for antenatal care, flagging two as high-risk pregnancies. Seven people signed up for family planning services. The team also held health talks on postnatal care and family planning. Dr Pangertemsu, Dr Kedoneilhou, and other specialists provided direct care.
The event expanded beyond maternal needs. The crew saw 91 dental cases and 43 ENT patients. General medicine practitioners treated 50 people while physiotherapists worked with 45 others. Staff examined 92 eye patients and gave out free spectacles. The camp offered ultrasound, X-ray, lab testing, and free medicine. Regarding the scope of the mission, officials noted the camp was organized to provide accessible and quality healthcare services to mothers and children.
Multiple specialists staffed the site. This included Dr Shevo Hiese, Dr Weto Lomi, Dr Tewekhro, Dr Medozhanuo Solo, Dr Pfukhrolo Koza, Dr Mewe-u, and Dr Neikonuo. Ophthalmic assistants, counsellors, and social workers rounded out the crew to ensure the event ran smoothly.
