Imphal: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim, known as NSCN-IM, has formally denied any role in the May 13 ambush near Kotzim in Kangpokpi, Manipur. The attack killed three leaders from the Thadou Baptist Association India: Rev. Dr. Vumthang Sitlhou, Rev. Kaigoulun Lhouvum, and Pastor Paogoulen Sitlhou. Social media claims blaming the group are baseless. The organization released a statement calling the accusations "malicious" and "fabricated."

The group also disputed claims involving a person named MS Chekneichung Chiru, or Achung. They insist no such person exists in their ranks, calling the reference fictitious and defamatory. The NSCN-IM supports the bereaved families and welcomes an investigation by the National Investigation Agency to find the real killers. They warned the public to verify information before spreading rumors.

Violence is spreading. Tensions flared along the India-Myanmar border on Friday after a drone attack hit the home of NSCN-K commander Akham Konyak in Langkho village. The strike inside Myanmar’s Sagaing Region injured two people, including a nine-year-old girl. Two projectiles failed to detonate, though property damage occurred. No one died.

This follows a separate strike on September 29. The Yung Aung faction of the NSCN-K and the Revolutionary People’s Front ambushed a 21 Assam Rifles patrol near Nampong, Arunachal Pradesh. One soldier died and four others suffered injuries. The groups claimed they seized an AK-series rifle after the fight.
