NSCN (IM) Denies Role in Manipur Church Leaders Ambush

Kohima: The NSCN (IM) fired back on Saturday, rejecting online accusations that its fighters ambushed and killed three church leaders in Manipur. The organization labeled the claims as baseless and malicious. On May 13, gunmen killed Rev Dr Vumthang Sitlhou, Rev Kaigoulun Lhouvum, and Pastor Paogoulen Sitlhou near Kotzim in Kangpokpi district.

The group claims no connection to the attack. It stated, "no NSCN cadres or hands were involved in that tragic incident in any manner whatsoever." The organization claims that vested interests are spreading these rumors to derail the official investigation and stir up communal tension.

Viral social media posts also identified a man named Chekneichung Chiru, or Achung, as an NSCN member. The group denied this, calling the mention of the name fictitious and defamatory. They maintain that no such person exists within their ranks.

The NSCN (IM) expressed support for the National Investigation Agency as it takes over the probe. They are calling for a transparent investigation to catch the real culprits. They warned the public and media to stop spreading unverified rumors. The organization stated it will not tolerate attempts to smear its name and reserves the right to counter such propaganda.
