Imphal: National Investigation Agency officials interviewed United Naga Council President NG Lorho in Senapati on Tuesday. The team, including Dy.SP Manish Prabhune, CIO Abhijeet Pawar, and CT Anil Patil, conducted the session at the local Superintendent of Police office. The probe focuses on the May 13, 2026, ambush in the Kotlem-Kotzim area of Kangpokpi district.
This case, registered as RC-09/2026/NIA/IMP, stems from an initial police filing at the New Keithelmanbi station. The attack claimed the lives of three Thadou community pastors. NIA Branch Office SP Taposh Basumatary stated the agency is gathering witness testimonies from local figures linked to the case. Investigators have already conducted raids and arrested two suspects following initial questioning of a local police officer.
Lorho met the team and promised full assistance. "We welcome the NIA officials and extend our full cooperation in whatever way we can in the investigation into the targeted ambush and killings of the three pastors," he said. The agency refused to comment on the specific details of the statement.
The UNC president pushed the agency to speed up a separate probe into the deaths of six Naga men abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13. Their mutilated remains turned up near a Kuki-Zo village on June 10. Lorho complained of slow progress from authorities regarding the six men. He warned that the Naga people might expand their protests beyond current economic blockades if justice remains stalled. He placed the burden of resolution on the Governments of Manipur and India.
