Kohima: The All Sümi Students’ Union retracted its public claim that workers at the Akuluto PHC and Health and Wellness Centre were misusing medicine. Union leaders clarified on September 26 that the original report was wrong. The issue actually involved a small number of OST patients re-selling their own medication.
The union issued a formal apology to the staff, patients, and the public for the confusion. "Due to miscommunication, the matter was inadvertently included in our press statement. We sincerely regret any misunderstanding, concern or inconvenience that may have been caused to the healthcare workers, patients, students and the public as a result of the statement," the SKK Media Cell stated.
The organization now plans to double check facts before going public with claims. They aim to work with health facilities to improve services across the region. Leaders remain focused on patient welfare and public service in Zunheboto.
