Kohima: The All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) issued a seven-day ultimatum to government staff in Satoi. The deadline expires October 13. Officials must now stay at their designated posts and keep offices open during regular hours. The order covers the Rural Development, Social Welfare, PWD/Housing, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, and Agriculture departments.
SKK leaders discovered the staff shortages during an education tour throughout Sumi-inhabited areas. The union found that residents cannot access essential government services because offices are either closed or empty. The lack of accountability at the Satoi EAC Headquarters hampers the community.
The union warned that it will contact higher authorities to punish workers who fail to show up. They plan to hold the employees accountable for their official responsibilities. Failure to comply by the deadline will trigger what the organization described as "strong action and further necessary steps" against the negligent staff.
