Chozuba to Host Legal Rights Workshop for Women and Children

Kohima: Phek district officials are hosting a legal rights workshop this week. The event kicks off September 18 at 11 AM inside the Vamuzo Memorial Town Hall in Chozuba. Organizers built the program under the umbrella of Mission Shakti, a federal initiative run by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

It is a partnership between local administration and the District Legal Services Authority. Zapuno Khatso, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, plans to lead the session with a keynote address. Attendees will hear from several subject matter experts throughout the day. Vileno K Thisa, the District Mission Coordinator for DHEW, will break down the specific components of Mission Shakti. Menu-u Tsuhah, who manages the Sakhi One Stop Centre in Phek, intends to outline the services available to local residents.

Legal experts are also on the schedule. Sekhotso Rokha, a retainer lawyer for the Phek DLSA, will provide a lecture on the provisions of the POCSO Act. The group Transcend Voice will perform a special number during the proceedings. Dr. Cthitu Nienu, an EAC from Meluri, will chair the meeting and offer final thoughts. The State DIPR shared details of the agenda, noting that the goal is "legal rights and protection of women and children" throughout the region.
