Kohima: Phek district administration will hold an awareness session on legal rights for women and children this month. The event kicks off at 11 a.m. on September 18 at Vamuzo Memorial Town Hall in Chozuba. It operates under Mission Shakti and the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Phek District Legal Services Authority is co-hosting the effort.
Zapuno Khatso, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, delivers the keynote address. Vileno K. Thisa, District Mission Coordinator for DHEW, will break down the various schemes available under Mission Shakti. Menu u Tsuhah, who runs the Sakhi One Stop Centre in Phek, will explain how their facility provides support services to the public. Organizers scheduled a performance by Transcend Voice to break up the talks.
Retainer Lawyer Sekhotso Rokha from the Phek District Legal Services Authority will explain the specific protections found in the POCSO Act. Extra Assistant Commissioner Dr. Cthitu Nienu will chair the event and provide the final wrap-up. The organizers describe the initiative as an "awareness and sensitisation programme on Legal Rights and Protection for Women and Children."
