Chümoukedima Officials Push New Silk Production Strategy

Kohima: Stakeholders gathered Friday at the State Sericulture Farmer Training Centre in Chümoukedima to map out the MRMA 2.0 initiative. The meeting addressed the Mera Resham Mera Abhiyan program. District Sericulture Officer Mayangjalwalling attended the session. Dr. Anil Kumar S. T., a scientist with CSB MESSO P3 Unit Narayanpur, also took part.

They reviewed current sericulture conditions. Farmers face major hurdles. The group identified steps to grow cocoon and silk output while boosting extension services. They also aimed to get scientific technology into the hands of growers. An action plan is now ready.

The plan includes farmer training and field demonstrations. Officials will run awareness programs to push better sericulture methods. Participants believe this work will fix livelihoods. They expect long-term growth for the sector. As one report noted, stakeholders expressed confidence that the initiative "would contribute significantly to the sustainable growth of the sericulture sector and improve the livelihoods of farmers in Chümoukedima district."
