Guwahati: Assam Sericulture Director Lakhimi Dutta inspected the Eri-Muga farm at Bogidhola in Golaghat district on Wednesday, September 9. She reviewed daily operations and local development. The visit aimed to push silk production as a reliable income stream for rural families.

Dutta met with department officials and field staff to audit current progress. She also held direct talks with progressive women farmers. They swapped stories about their success, obstacles, and new ideas. These women remain the core focus of the department's growth strategy.

The department stated the visit is expected to encourage Eri-Muga sericulture and motivate more rural families, especially women, to take up sericulture as an avenue for sustainable income generation. The program included Numaligarh Refinery Limited Chief General Manager Mintu Handique and All and Sundry NGO founder Abhishek Singha. Officials from the Golaghat Department of Sericulture also attended to survey the ground reality of the sector.
