Assam Agricultural University Partners With Central Silk Board to Launch Tech Hub

Guwahati: Assam Agricultural University and the Central Silk Board joined forces to build a new tech hub. They signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the Next Generation Silk Innovation Network Incubation Centre. It will sit at the College of Sericulture in Jorhat. This move aims to fix gaps in the local silk industry.

Officials exchanged the agreement during the 77th Foundation Day of the Central Silk Board. Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh and Minister of State for MSME Shobha Karandlaje attended the ceremony. CSB Member Secretary P Shivakumar stood alongside them. Dr. Utpal Kotoky, an Officer on Special Duty, and Assistant Professor Dr. Manasee Hazarika Ahmed represented the university.

The center will drive entrepreneurship and technology development. It acts as a platform for new ideas in silk production and related fields. Supporters expect the project to improve the state's silk output. P Shivakumar noted the goal is "creating an ecosystem for innovation, entrepreneurship and technology development in the sericulture sector." The facility will offer resources for emerging entrepreneurs who want to modernize the business.
