Assam Minister Pushes Bodoland Silk for Global Export Market

Guwahati: Assam Minister Biswajit Daimary toured the Bodoland Silk Park at Adabari in Kokrajhar on August 18. He met with BTC Sericulture Department Executive Member Karmeswar Ray and other officials to plan an expansion of the regional silk sector. They discussed ways to ramp up production and find new buyers for local goods.

Demand is high. Daimary believes the product has enough strength to hit national and global shelves. "Bodoland silk has huge demand in the market and holds significant potential to reach both national and international markets," the Minister told the press.

The government aims to sharpen product quality and firm up marketing chains. Plans involve turning the Adabari facility into a hub for spinning, processing, and value addition. Officials hope this focus will pay off for local farmers, weavers, and entrepreneurs looking to grow their business.
