Guwahati: The Bodoland Territorial Council will shut down operations for Diwali. November 9, 2026, is now an official local holiday for all departments within the council's jurisdiction. This order covers five specific districts: Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Tamulpur, and Udalguri.

The General Administration Department issued the directive on November 3. The Additional Principal Secretary signed off on the move, ordering district leaders to broadcast the news immediately. It is an official break for the region. Essential services are not stopping.

Emergency departments and facilities managing active examination duties remain exempt from this holiday. According to the official notification, these teams must continue to "take necessary action and ensure wide publicity" for the change in schedule. Work continues for those vital units.
