Guwahati: Assam state officials set a December 31, 2026, deadline to finalize all outstanding business reforms. The state also wants all government offices operating under the e-Office system by January 1, 2027. These mandates emerged during the 21st Monthly Review Meeting at the Kaziranga Conference Hall.

The Chief Minister chaired the session with senior secretaries to track administrative progress. The agenda covered deregulation, financial management, and development priorities. Officials reviewed Deregulation 2.0 and the State Business Reform Action Plan. They demand simpler regulatory procedures and faster completion of these reforms. Files remain a bottleneck. While e-Office pendency dropped by 7 per cent, 3,04,288 files still sit idle.

Financial oversight is tightening. The government is pushing the Viksit Assam proposal, the Green Cess, and the Single Nodal Agency SPARSH system. Departments must now submit annual accounts for Gross State Value Added computation to improve fiscal accountability. Development work will target Aspirational Districts and Blocks, alongside new mandates from the North Eastern Council High Level Task Force.

Authorities reviewed the 16 State-Level Sectoral Councils to boost public service delivery. They also assessed Project Sadbhavana and plans for Mission Sadbhavana 3.0. Sixth Schedule Autonomous Councils must now sign specific memorandums of understanding with line departments to track funds. Departments need to appoint nodal officers for monthly monitoring. The Chief Minister issued a clear directive regarding these institutional changes. He said, "decisions taken during review meetings must translate into measurable improvements in administrative efficiency and public service delivery."
