Guwahati: A blaze ripped through Kathalguri village in the Juria area of Nagaon district on Tuesday. Three homes belonging to Elahi Box burned to the ground. The fire turned cash, furniture, and vital documents into ash. It was a total loss.
Preliminary estimates place the damage at Rs 10 lakh. Local residents suspect an electrical short circuit started the fire. The flames spread fast. Fire and emergency services personnel arrived quickly to battle the heat alongside locals. Their work kept the fire from jumping to neighboring properties.
The family faces an uncertain future. Officials are still working to determine the final cost of the disaster. Local sources said the event "raised concerns over electrical safety in the area." No injuries were reported as authorities continue to monitor the site.
