Guwahati: State officials handed out cash payments to 658 beneficiaries in the Boko-Chaygaon constituency on September 17. The payout came through the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan, a program designed to help locals start and run their own businesses.

The event took place at the Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Auditorium in Boko. Local MLA Raju Mesh served as the chief guest. He stood alongside RHAC Chairman Sonaram Rabha and other regional leaders to oversee the distribution. Representatives handed out physical cheques to three individuals to mark the occasion.

The money hit accounts in two distinct waves. Under the CMAAA 1.0 banner, 71 people collected their third instalment of Rs 1 lakh each. Another 587 people received the second instalment of Rs 25,000 under the CMAAA 2.0 framework. Officials linked the event to a broader broadcast originating from the Jyoti-Bishnu International Art Gallery in Guwahati.

Priyanshu Bharadwaj, the Boko-Chaygaon Co-District Commissioner, opened the floor by defining the mission of the initiative. He noted that the project is "aimed at providing financial support to aspiring entrepreneurs and helping beneficiaries establish sustainable self-employment ventures." The cash injections seek to give these ventures the capital needed to scale up operations.
