Guwahati: Assam Police raided a home in 3 No. Tupamari village on Sunday, September 13. They hauled away Rs 93,08,200 in cash, piles of gold ornaments, bank documents, and ATM cards. The sweep took place in the Boko-Chaygaon area. Boko-Chaygaon Co-District CDSP Jankishore Gogoi led the operation alongside SI Champak Kalita and SI Harjit Das.
The target, Sanowar Hussain, managed to slip away. He was not on the property when officers arrived. Police took his wife, Saheda Ahmed, into custody instead. The search yielded more than just money. Officers found a Bolero, a Royal Enfield motorcycle, 70 PM Ujjwala cards, and various bank passbooks. They suspect these items point to a broader cyber fraud network.
Investigators are now tracing the source of the cash and auditing the seized bank accounts. They operated with independent witnesses present to ensure the process followed legal standards. The hunt for the truth continues. Jankishore Gogoi promised to hammer those behind these scams. "Strict legal action would be taken against those involved in cyber fraud and those facilitating such activities," he said. He also warned the public to keep their bank details and cards private.
