Guwahati: Deepjyoti Patgiri is trading Pathsala for space. The Assam native secured a position as a postdoctoral researcher at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in the United States. He stands out as the only Indian researcher chosen for the program this year. He leaves for America on September 23.
Patgiri will study anisotropy in the solar atmosphere. He plans to map the directional properties and variations found within the Sun. This follows his previous research stint at IIT Roorkee. The shift from a local government school to a global space agency marks a massive professional leap.
The researcher recently returned to his roots. He visited Bajali Higher Secondary School on Thursday to speak with local students. He shared lessons from his academic career during the session. His parents, retired teachers Umesh and Ramani Patgiri, watched his rise with pride. His journey serves as a clear blueprint for regional students. As Patgiri noted, his upcoming assignment at the Goddard Space Flight Center will mark another step in his research career following his work at IIT Roorkee.
