Itanagar: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) formed an eight-member panel to track the Election Commission of India's Special Intensive Review of electoral rolls. President Meje Taku issued the order to ensure the process remains fair and transparent. The union wants to protect the rights of all eligible voters.

This review involves house-to-house checks and verification of voter records. Officials aim to remove dead people, duplicates, and non-citizens from the rolls. The union worries about errors. "The union, however, stressed that no eligible citizen should be inadvertently excluded from the electoral database during the exercise."

Arunachal Pradesh presents massive logistical hurdles. The state has scattered settlements and rugged terrain. These factors make a wide-scale verification complex. AAPSU argues that these conditions demand constant public oversight.

Nabam Gandhi leads the committee. Members include Pulai Wangsa, Yomli Poyom, Chow Miling Khangkio, Tajing Jamoh, Chowkhiya Tayang, Sanjay Nikhanju, and Vikash Dada. The team will talk with local unions and authorities to catch procedural gaps. Every recommendation requires final approval from the AAPSU president.
