Police Arrest Pair in Manipur Over Tamil Nadu Missing Person Case

Guwahati: Jiribam Police and Tamil Nadu authorities apprehended two suspects in Manipur. The arrests stem from a missing woman case registered under Case No. 338/26 at the T8-Guduvanchery Police Station in Tamil Nadu. Station House Officer Govindaraj issued a formal requisition for the arrest.

Police identified the suspects as 22-year-old Manik Uddin Laskar and 21-year-old Bhagabati Majhi, also known as Ayesha Begum. Laskar resides in Sonabarighat near MHC High School in Assam, while Majhi is from Radhapur village in Odisha. The duo are married.

A team led by ASI S Suraj Singh tracked them down. Officers grabbed Laskar on an inter-village road between Lalpani and Rasidpur at 10.45 pm on August 28. They moved on Majhi the next morning. Police arrested her at Kashimpur village at 11.30 am on August 29.

The operation involved joint forces from Jiribam and Tamil Nadu. Officer-in-Charge Thingujam Tikendra Singh and Additional SP Th Kamaljit Singh directed the field teams. Jiribam Superintendent of Police Prakhar Pandey supervised the entire mission. The authorities are now transferring the suspects to Tamil Nadu for legal processing. Officials stated the duo were arrested "in connection with a missing woman case registered in Tamil Nadu."
