Imphal: A joint task force of Jiribam and Tamil Nadu police officers tracked down and arrested two fugitives in Manipur. Law enforcement acted on a request from the T8-Guduvanchery Police Station. The operation took two days to complete.
Officers hauled in Manik Uddin Laskar, 22, on August 28. Laskar, a native of Sonabarighat in Assam, was found on an inter-village road running between Lalpani and Rasidpur. Police acting on tips about his location took him into custody without incident.
The dragnet widened the next day. Authorities picked up 21-year-old Bhagabati Majhi, also known as Ayesha Begum, in Kashimpur village on August 29. She is Laskar’s wife and hails from Radhapur village in Odisha’s Kendujhar district.
Officials confirmed the transfer process is underway. "Both arrested persons will be handed over to the station house officer of T8-Guduvanchery Police Station for further legal formalities." The duo now faces transport to Tamil Nadu for the remainder of the case.
