PREPAK Denies Link to Man Arrested for Recruitment

Imphal: The People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) rejected claims that a man arrested by police belongs to their ranks. Authorities detained 29-year-old Laishram Bishal, also known as Naocha, on October 5. A combined team of Manipur Police’s Imphal West and Thoubal district Commando units made the arrest. They claim Bishal was recruiting for the rebel group.

PREPAK Publicity Officer Mangal Khuman released a statement clearing the suspect. He said Bishal, son of L. Brojen Singh, has no ties to the group or its armed wing, the Red Army. The organization maintains the police allegations are fabricated. "The police claim linking Bishal with PREPAK was baseless and without supporting evidence," the statement said. The group insists the suspect is not a member in any capacity.
