Itanagar: A final-year engineering student died following a crash on National Highway 415. The accident occurred in the Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh. Police identified the victim as Gagan Paul, a native of Cooch Behar, West Bengal, who studied agricultural engineering at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology.
A patrol spotted Paul at 4:30 am on Thursday near the Nirjuli Police Station. His gearless scooter had slammed into a road divider. Additional Superintendent of Police Rishi Longdo noted that officers discovered the student injured at the scene. They loaded him into a police vehicle for an emergency trip to the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences in Naharlagun. Doctors declared him dead upon his arrival at the hospital.
Police registered a case of unnatural death on Friday, August 28. Investigators are now working to piece together the events of the crash. Officers stated, "The police team rushed to the spot and found the student lying injured on the road after his gearless scooter collided with the divider." A detailed probe into the incident remains active.
