MP Tai Tagak Pledges Infrastructure Upgrades for Four Arunachal Colleges

Itanagar: Rajya Sabha MP Tai Tagak visited four higher education sites in Arunachal Pradesh’s Papum Pare district to address systemic infrastructure failures. He inspected the National Institute of Technology, Jarbom Gamlin Government Law College, and the Film and Television Institute of India in Jote. He also toured Bini Yanga Government Women’s College in Poma. The visit operated under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect initiatives.

Students and staff detailed persistent shortages in drinking water, electricity, and reliable roads. Tagak confirmed that tenders for road construction are already out. He directed contractors to start work immediately. He also demanded engineering fixes for sections prone to landslides and sinking soil. The MP’s delegation included Doimukh MLA Nabam Vivek, Lt Col T.C. Tavum, Gram Chairperson Techi Punia, and Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee vice-chairman Tadar Akap.

Safety remains a major worry. The current bridge serving Bini Yanga Government Women’s College lacks the strength to hold college buses. Tagak promised to coordinate with the local MLA to resolve the bridge capacity issues. He also approved the installation of a CCTV security system for the campus. He noted, "The infrastructure requirements would be taken up with the state and central governments."

Tagak viewed the campus visits as a way to link students with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. He pressed young people to use their skills to solve social problems. He specifically pushed for the scientific study of indigenous knowledge regarding sustainable resources. At the law college, he focused on constitutional values and the duties of future lawyers. He ended the trip by noting that fixing these basic services will boost tourism potential in the Jote area.
