Itanagar: Trade Development Officer Sorang Yapa led a joint inspection across Papum Pare district on September 4. The operation targeted businesses in Yupia and Tigdo, specifically patrolling zones near Holy Kids Public School, Euro Kids Pre-School, Nyorch, and the Yupia-II Market. Enforcement teams caught five shops operating without valid trade licences, while two additional businesses held expired permits.
Authorities collected Rs 7,500 in fines from the non-compliant vendors. The raid also hit shops stocking contraband near school grounds. Officers confiscated nine quarter bottles of whisky and two packets of beer during the sweep. Officials also cleared out tobacco products from stores located within 100 yards of educational institutions.
The state maintains a firm stance on these prohibited sales. "Shopkeepers were directed to obtain or renew their trade licences within 30 days and warned against stocking, displaying or selling tobacco products within 100 yards of school compounds," officials stated. Future violations will trigger harsher legal consequences.
