Arunachal Congress Demands Better Border Security and Logistics

Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee is pushing the central government to prioritize border infrastructure and logistical support for troops. Party president Bosiram Siram issued the demand following his four-day inspection of the Taksing sector in the Upper Subansiri district. He toured the remote region alongside party leaders and local panchayat representatives to survey conditions firsthand.

Siram wants a joint all-party parliamentary delegation to visit the state. He argues that elected officials must witness the ground reality to provide proper oversight. Troops in these isolated posts need better equipment and communication gear. They also require improved housing, medical access, and steady supply lines to maintain their positions. Siram said, "Taksing is not a distant corner of India, it is the frontline of India."

The APCC president also proposed forming an Arunachal Regiment. He envisions this unit drawing heavily from local tribal youth to bolster regional security. He maintains that frontier residents act as the bedrock of the state’s defense. The government must treat these citizens as partners rather than afterthoughts. As Siram noted, "The people of Taksing are not living at the periphery of India. They are living at the frontline of India. If the nation expects them to stand firm on the frontier, it must stand firmly behind them."
