Arunachal Minister Denies Border Incursions as Congress Demands Proof

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung dismissed claims of Chinese encroachment as mere rumors. He spoke on July 26 during Kargil Vijay Diwas events. Natung insisted Chinese forces would not dare cross into Indian territory. He praised soldiers for constant vigilance. The Indian Army recently labeled similar reports of PLA camps in the state as baseless.

These border talks follow the 35th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination in Beijing. Both nations reviewed border stability and discussed management strategies. India also pushed for talks on trans-border rivers.

The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee fired back on July 27. Working President Tanga Byaling demanded proof. He challenged leadership to take reporters to the Taksing sector in Upper Subansiri district to verify the claims. "If the state government is confident that there are no Chinese incursions or encroachments, the Chief Minister and Home Minister should visit the Indo-Tibetan border with a media team and verify the ground reality," Byaling said.

Byaling criticized the government for citing the 1962 war instead of addressing modern developments since 2020. He shifted focus to health and education. The Congress leader alleged deep corruption in medical procurement and hospital staffing. He pointed to shortages of doctors and medicine despite high spending. He demanded an audit of schools, many of which he claimed exist only on paper. The opposition leader vowed to keep pushing for accountability across the state government.
