Gauhati University Distributes 5,000 School Kits to Flood-Hit Sivasagar Students

Guwahati: Gauhati University handed out 5,000 educational kits to students hit by recent floods in Sivasagar. The university aims to keep classrooms running despite the weather. Workers delivered 3,500 kits to 15 different schools. They gave the remaining 1,500 kits to the District Inspector of Schools for further local distribution.

A team from the university, including Prof Dwipen Bezbaruah and Prof Bikash Gogoi, traveled through rough conditions to reach the students. The Gauhati University Press backed this social responsibility push. Vice-Chancellor Prof Nani Gopal Mahanta stated, "Floods and other natural disasters should not come in the way of a child's education. During such difficult times, it is our responsibility as a university to stand beside our students and communities."

The university wants to give kids the tools to study with confidence. Prof Ankuran Dutta, who leads the Gauhati University Press, praised the staff and professors for running the program. This relief effort follows a Rs 25 lakh donation to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Beyond school supplies, the school has sent aid to families in Sivasagar and Charaideo. They are also working to save damaged Vaishnavite manuscripts.
