Kohima: Zunheboto finished training 211 Booth Level Officers on July 15. The three-day course prepared them for the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls Phase III. This work comes direct from the Election Commission of India. These officers cover six Assembly Constituencies. They will now handle house-to-house verifications to keep voter lists clean.
Assistant Election Officer Bisalee Thonger oversaw the session. He noted the officers possess the skills needed for the job. He said, "The BLOs will play a key role in ensuring that the electoral rolls are accurate and up to date."
More training is coming. A program for Supervisors starts July 16. Officials will then meet with Booth Level Agents on July 17 at 11:00 am in the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall. Nagaland joins 16 states and three Union Territories in this project. The work lines up with the current Census house-listing operation.
Recognized political parties must appoint agents for every polling station. The qualifying date is October 1. Preparation and material printing run from August 5 to 14. Verification teams head out August 16 until September 14. Draft rolls go live September 20. The public can file claims or objections until October 20. Officials will clear those cases by November 18. The final roll drops November 22, 2026.
