Youth Group Demands Justice Following Taxi Sexual Assault in Nagaland

Kohima: The Cüze Rülho Khel Youth Organisation (CRYO) has condemned the kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman by a taxi driver. The attack happened October 17, 2026. The victim was traveling from Kohima to Chiephobozou at the time.

CRYO identified the suspect as 28-year-old Ruokuotuolie Rüpreo. He is the son of Suolahie Rüpreo. The assault took place around 1:30 p.m. instead of at the passenger's intended drop-off. The driver bypassed the destination, drove toward the Chiechama-Botsa route, locked the vehicle doors, and attacked the woman.

CRYO president Ruokuohetuo Rülho, vice president Letuozo Kiewhuo, and general secretary Keneisetuo Kiewhuo issued a formal statement on the incident. They called the crime a direct violation of women's dignity and fundamental rights. The group stated that the act has "undermined public trust in the transport system and posed a serious threat to the safety of women and girls in Nagaland."

The organization is backing the victim and her family. They commended her for filing an FIR despite the severe trauma. CRYO demands police charge Rüpreo under strict Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions. They want a fast investigation and harsh punishment for the accused.

The group also reached out to the district administration and the High School Area Private Taxi Union. They want officials to implement better driver verification and safety protocols. CRYO promised to launch democratic protests if justice is delayed. They are urging all student bodies, civil societies, and citizens to demand accountability for this crime.
