Zunheboto Board Reviews Rural Employment Scheme and Independence Day Plans

Kohima: Zunheboto District Planning and Development Board officials met Wednesday at the Deputy Commissioner conference hall. Vice Chairman and Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj, IAS, led the session. They reviewed past action reports and welcomed a new board member. The board checked on approved proposals sent to the government, including a new Fire and Emergency Services Station at Akuluto, a PHE office at Satakha, a District Welfare Office in Zunheboto, and various Green Initiatives.

The board finalized plans for the 13th Intra-Departmental Tournament. It runs from September 17 to 19. Athletes will compete in six sporting disciplines to drive departmental morale. Additional Deputy Commissioner Shaying Sheu, NCS, also coordinated staff roles for the upcoming Independence Day festivities. This was the primary administrative focus.

A District Rural Development Agency presentation highlighted the Viksit Bharat Guaranteed Rozgar for Augmenting Rural Missions scheme. The program targets rural livelihood stability. "The scheme guarantees 150 days of wage employment annually for eligible rural households," the presentation noted. This marks a 50-day increase from existing MGNREGS provisions. The extra days focus on private agriculture and allied infrastructure.

Officials detailed 318 project categories. The list includes 107 water security tasks, 90 core rural infrastructure jobs, 96 livelihood projects, and 25 water harvesting and disaster mitigation activities. Permissible work involves building rural roads, livestock facilities, and food relief shelters. The state will follow the MGNREGS funding model, utilizing a 90:10 cost-sharing ratio between the Centre and Nagaland.
