Zunheboto Official Pushes For Long-Term Assets Under Rural Employment Act

Kohima: Zunheboto Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj challenged village functionaries on Thursday to shift their focus from simple wage labor to building lasting economic assets. He spoke to Village Development Boards at a district-level Panch Sammelan held at the VDB Hall. The session aimed to train officials on the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Gramin Act, 2025.

Raj expects rural leaders to build model villages by 2047. He wants plans that reflect local needs rather than generic goals. The commissioner pushed for systematic cooperation to ensure the new wage laws provide real, long-term benefits to households. Addressing the VDB Secretaries, Raj said: "As primary grassroot representatives directly connected with the public, they carry significant administrative responsibilities and community expectations."

Gloria Phuleshe chaired the event. N. Kupto Sema, the Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency, kicked off the program. Obed Achumi, a Project Officer for the agency, walked the attendees through the operational rules of the new Act. The day wrapped up with an open discussion and a thank you from Assistant Engineer David Achumi.
