Kohima: Authorities scrapped over 73,000 MGNREGA job cards following credential mismatches. The Nagaland State Special Audit Agency revealed the cull during the fifth phase of a district-level social audit in Zunheboto on August 4. The audit focused on MGNREGA and BOCW schemes for the 2026-27 financial year at the VDB Hall.
Project Director N Kupto Sema of the District Rural Development Agency chaired the event. Assistant Director Imlirenla Sanglir explained the shift to digital platforms. She noted the MGNREGA system migrated to the VB-GRAM G system starting July 1. This change forced the cleanup of faulty records.
District and Block Resource Persons presented village-level audit findings for the Tokiye and Suruhuto blocks. Officials reviewed these findings during a public hearing. Dr L Chuchong Noklang, the Extra Assistant Commissioner, demanded better coordination between departments to fix the delivery of benefits. She confirmed the district administration remains committed to the process. "The district administration would extend full support and cooperation whenever required," Noklang said.
