Agartala: Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma met with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi. He pushed for urgent facility upgrades at the Mungiakami railway station to better serve the local population. The minister wants improved infrastructure to boost connectivity for tribal residents who depend on the line.

Debbarma also turned his attention to economic development. He formally requested central government support for projects targeting the textile, handicraft, and silk industries within his state. These sectors remain vital for the local economy. The minister emphasized that federal backing for these initiatives would directly empower tribal artisans.

The push for state funding aligns with broader goals for regional industrial growth. As Debbarma stated, he is seeking central government aid to "strengthen the textile, handicraft and silk sector projects." His meetings in the capital represent a dual strategy: improve transit access while pumping cash into local craftsmanship.
