Dimapur Urban Haat Hosts Three-Day Handloom Exhibition

Kohima: Biswajit Das opened the three-day exhibition and live loom demonstration at Urban Haat in Dimapur. Das, who serves as the Assistant Director and Head of Office at the Weaver’s Service Centre in Toluvi, led the inaugural session. The event runs through August 7, 2026.

The Nagaland Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. organized the show. They worked alongside the Weaver’s Service Centre to pull it off. The Ministry of Textiles, specifically the Office of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, sponsored the entire project.

Officials aim to highlight regional craft traditions. The effort leads into the 12th National Handloom Day celebration. Itoka Sumi, the Deputy General Manager for Projects, noted the event "highlights regional craft traditions and will continue till August 7, 2026, culminating in the nationwide celebration of the 12th National Handloom Day."
