Kohima: T. Lemnon Wangsha opened the Gandhi Shilp Bazar at the State Academy Hall Compound in Kohima on September 1. Wangsha, the additional director of Industries and Commerce, kicked off the event near the PHQ Junction at PR Hill. The exhibition runs through September 7, 2026.
Forty participants traveled from Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, and Meghalaya to display handloom and handicraft items. This exhibition aims to boost local craftsmanship and give artisans a direct path to buyers. The Nagaland Women Vocational Training Institute organized the sale with backing from the Ministry of Textiles.
The Nagaland Women Vocational Training Institute worked closely with the Handicraft Service Centre. Organizers thanked the service center for its help during the setup. An official statement noted, "The Implementing Agency (NWVTI) expressed gratitude to the Handicrafts Service Centre (HSC), Kohima, for its valuable support." Local residents are encouraged to stop by the venue to see the displays and support the visiting artisans.
