Agartala: Tripura officials deployed 50 Mini Mobile Veterinary Units on Friday to boost animal healthcare access. Animal Resources Development Minister Sudhangshu Das inaugurated the fleet at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala. He flagged off the vehicles to begin state-wide service. West Tripura acting Zilla Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil joined 300 department staffers at the event.
These units function at the block level. They represent a major expansion of the state’s previous effort, which fielded 13 mobile units. Minister Das stated the government is committed to providing "modern, accessible and farmer-friendly veterinary services at the doorsteps of livestock owners." Officials expect these vehicles to cut mortality rates and raise livestock productivity.
Dignitaries handed keys to drivers to finalize the rollout. Each van carries specialized gear to handle vaccinations, deworming, and artificial insemination. Crews will also manage disease surveillance, pregnancy checks, and emergency sick animal treatment. The system links directly to the 1962 toll-free Veterinary Helpline to speed up response times for farmers in every block.
