Agartala: Tripura is pushing to become a top spiritual destination. The state government is building the 51 Shakti Peetha Park in Banduar, located in the Gomati district of Udaipur. Work is already underway at the site near Mata Tripurasundari. The project carries a price tag of Rs. 97.70 crore.
Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury confirmed the plan on Monday. Shankaracharya Swami Adhokshajananda Devtirthji Maharaj, the Peethadheeshwar of the Purvamnaya Govardhan Math in Puri, toured the site Monday morning to check progress. After the visit, Chowdhury noted that the spiritual leader shared his outlook on the park. "The project would attract a large number of devotees and spiritual seekers from across India and abroad," the minister stated.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha kicked off the project on July 13 last year. Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and Chowdhury joined him for the foundation stone ceremony. The park aims to house replicas of all 51 Shakti Peeths. Officials expect the site to draw international crowds and provide a major boost to the state economy. This development aligns with a goal from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to establish at least one world-class tourist spot in every state across India.
