Imphal: Imphal East Police Commandos and the 31 Assam Rifles arrested two Kangleipak Communist Party members on October 29. The pair faced accusations regarding the September 3 kidnapping of a woman from Top Awang Leikai. Authorities confirmed the suspects belong to the KCP-Nongdrenkhomba faction.

Police identified the men as 28-year-old Phanjoubam Thoiba Mangang, also known as Pari, from Thongju Part-II, and 28-year-old Longjam Indrasen Singh, alias Chinglemba, from Kiyamgei Awang Leikai. Officers intercepted the suspects during a coordinated security sweep in the district.

Security forces seized a .32-calibre pistol, four live rounds of ammunition, and a Maruti Suzuki A-Star car. Officials expect the ongoing probe to pinpoint the specific roles of the men and identify if other accomplices assisted in the abduction. Regarding the rise in security pressure, authorities stated, "The arrests come amid continued security operations against armed groups in Manipur."
